The United States Tourism Industry

No matter what nation you're talking about, tourism is something that is needed to see major economic growth. Within the limits of the United States, tourism is a major factor from coast to coast. With most states boasting something that other parts of the country don't offer, there will always be visitors, but it is just a matter of how many visitors each location gets each year.

Major Tourism Destinations

One of the biggest tourist destinations in the United States can be found on the West Coast. The Grand Canyon is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful images of what nature can do. The National Park is 277 miles long and as wide as 18 miles in some parts. Some of the views from the site appear as though they were painted on the earth and make for an ideal family getaway.

On the East Coast, one of the most popular destinations is Times Square. Located in New York City, this location is visited by hundreds of thousands of people each day. It is an area that sees as many as 40 million visitors each year and is the face of the American celebration of New Year's Eve.

Popular Attractions

On the East Coast, Walt Disney World and on the West Coast, Disneyland, are two of the most important areas that have to do with American tourist numbers. These parks feature dozens of rides, shops, and entertainment options for their visitors. They are a part of American culture to the point where the Super Bowl MVP will say that they're going to Disneyland or Disney World each year.

Visitors to California will find that Disneyland is just one of many attractions in this large and diverse state. Boasting more than 800 miles of stunning coastline, hundreds of beautiful rugged mountains, baking deserts, vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see, the USA's second most populous city, small country towns, Hollywood, San Francisco and everything in between - this amazing state offers beach holidays, skiing vacations, gourmet wine tours, camping, city breaks, natural wonders like Yosemite and the Redwoods, and just about everything in between. You could live here a lifetime and not see it all, but a good tour would at least get you started in the right direction.

Another popular attraction within the United States is Philadelphia, Pa. This city is rich in history and culture and is one of the top locations for those in the northeast and across the country to visit. For the art fans, this city will provide numerous museums and art exhibits to keep your interest.

Type of Holidays

In the United States, a lot of the holidays where you will see a growth in travel and other expenses are the holidays that celebrate the country and its men and women. From Memorial Day and Labor Day to Independence Day, these weekends are filled with traffic on the interstates and money in the pockets of those within the tourism industries.

At the end of the year, a big reason why the tourism industry picks up is because Thanksgiving, Chanukah, and Christmas. At these holidays, most families travel so they can be with their loved ones and this usually involves road trips or air fare. Either way, these holidays are vital in the overall success of tourism in the United States and beyond.
